Tech Women's Tennis Tops TCU, 5-4
March 14, 1999 ATLANTA - Georgia Tech's Sabrina Pardo and Mason Miller downed Rachel Niwa and Natalie Balafoutis of Texas Christian in doubles to provide the match clincher as the 50th-ranked Yellow Jackets downed the 51st-ranked Horned Frogs, 5-4, Sunday on the indoor courts of the Bill Moore Tennis Center. "This was a great win for us," said Tech head coach Sue Hutchinson. "It was a war out there. It was a six-hour match, and we have final exams starting tomorrow. I'm proud of the way we performed this weekend with tests coming up. We showed a lot of composure." Pardo also won at No. 2 doubles for the Yellow Jackets, who improved to 9-2 overall on the year. Texas Christian fell to 7-3. Pardo downed Daria Zoldakova, 6-3, 7-6 (4), for one of Tech's four singles victories. The Jackets also posted victories at the No. 4, 5 and 6 with Xenia Uy, Tamarra Jenkin and Autumn Richards all winning to give Tech a 4-2 lead in the match heading into doubles play. Pardo and Miller then clinched the match for Tech at No. 2 doubles. The Jackets will now break for final exams before traveling to Miami to play Ohio State on Monday, March 22. Tech will also play on Thursday, March 25.
