Georgia Tech's Haller and Hosier Earn Easton All-America Honors
June 7, 2006 ATLANTA - Georgia Tech softball standouts Whitney Haller and Amy Hosier were named to the Easton-Bell All-America team, announced by Easton-Bell Sports on Wednesday afternoon. Easton covers 62 teams across the country, and four of them made the Women's College World Series (Alabama, Oregon State, Texas, UCLA). Haller, a freshman first baseman/pitcher from Marietta, Ga., broke several Atlantic Coast Conference single-season records, including home runs (24), RBI (72), total bases (171), slugging percentage (.799) and saves (6) en route to earning Easton All-America second team honors. She led Tech with a .393 batting average and was named ACC Freshman of the Year. Hosier, a senior outfielder from Lakewood, Colo., earns Easton All-America honors in her second straight season, earning third team honors. She led the ACC with a school record .513 on base percentage and ranked third in the conference with a .370 batting average. Hosier hit a career-high 10 home runs and drove in a career-best 48 runs for the Jackets, while setting a new single-season school record with 52 walks.
