Boston College infielder Kristin Allain has signed a free-agent contract with the New England Riptide of the National Pro Fastpitch League, according to an announcement made by Riptide General Manager Joe Adlman.

Allain started all 48 games for Boston College in her senior season. She hit .250 with three home runs and 11 RBI.

A four-year starter at third base, Allain played in 194 career games and started 188.

A native of Worcester, Mass., Allain earned her bachelor's degree in marketing from the Carroll School of Management this spring.

Allain's professional softball career will get underway on Thursday, June 8 when the Chicago Bandits visit Martin Softball Field in Lowell, Mass., for the first of a four-game series between the two teams. In addition to Thursday, the teams will play Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 3 p.m.
