May 19, 2005 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - University of Virginia fourth-year catcher Jenn Wynn (Herndon, Va./Herndon) has been named to the 12-member 2005 Louisville Slugger National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Southeast Region First Team as voted by the region's head softball coaches. Third-year third baseman Sara Larquier (Burbank, Calif./John Burroughs) and second-year second baseman Elea Crockett (Tucson, Ariz./University) have been selected to the 16-player All-Southeast Region Second Team. With their selection to the All-Southeast Region teams, all three players are eligible for All-America honors. The All-America teams will be announced during the Women's College World Series in the beginning of June. Virginia's three All-Southeast Region selections ties for the most in school history as the Cavaliers also had three players garner All-Region honors in 2002. Wynn and Crockett capture All-Southeast Region honors for the first time in their careers, while Larquier is now a two-time All-Region selection as she garnered first-team honors in 2004. Wynn, a three-year starter at catcher, earns All-Southeast Region honors for the first time. She is the fifth different Cavalier to capture first-team All-Region honors. Wynn garnered First Team All-Atlantic Coast Conference accolades this season and was also named to ACC All-Tournament Team. She was an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III selection as well. Wynn finished the 2005 season with a career-best .335 (57-170) batting average with 24 extra-base hits, including a team and career-high nine home runs. The team co-captain drove in 42 runs, tallied 101 total bases, and drew 36 walks, all of which are career bests. Wynn, who started all 63 games this season, including 45 at catcher, led Virginia with a .457 on-base percentage. In ACC play, Wynn batted .364 (16-44) with three home runs, 11 RBI and 14 walks. In the 2005 ACC Tournament, Wynn led all players with an .875 slugging percentage. The psychology major was 4-for-8 for a .500 batting average and also drew four walks, including one intentional walk. She also had a .692 on-base percentage in four games and drove in a pair of runs with a two-run homer. Larquier is a two-time All-Region pick and becomes the fourth Virginia softball player to earn All-Region honors more than once. Larquier, who was selected as the 2005 ACC Softball Player of the Year, captured All-ACC accolades for the third consecutive year with her first-team selection this season. The 2004 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Third Team All-American hit .348 (73-210) with a school record 34 extra-base hits in 63 games this season. She leads all ACC players with a school-record tying 19 doubles, seven triples, 54 RBI, 130 total bases, and a .619 slugging percentage. Larquier, who started all 63 games, was second on the team with eight home runs and also led UVa with 21 multiple-hit and 14 multiple-RBI contests. In just three years, Larquier is tied for third among all ACC players with 51 career doubles, is fifth in RBI with 154 and seventh in home runs with 27. Her 27 home runs are two shy of the Virginia school record. She also needs just four RBI and seven doubles to tie the school record. Crockett rounds out Virginia's All-Southeast Region performers with her selection to the second team. Crockett was a second-team All-ACC selection this season and was also named the ACC All-Tournament Team. Crockett started 60 games at second base and led the team with a career-best .374 (70-187) batting average, which is also second among all ACC players. She has scored 54 runs, the third highest single season total in school history. She drove in 17 runs and walked 24 times. Crockett tied the single season stolen base record with 24 and her 41 career steals ranks fifth all-time. She tallied an impressive .981 fielding percentage in 2005 with only five errors in 262 total chances. Over the final 19 games of the season, Crockett hit .593 with 35 hits in her last 59 at-bats. Crockett tallied six hits in the ACC Tournament and led all players with a .545 batting average (6-11). She hit safely in all four games of the tourney to extend her hitting streak to 11 games. Virginia concluded its 2005 season with a 31-32 overall record and finished third in the ACC regular season standings with a 9-8 mark. The Cavaliers also finished third in the ACC Tournament with a 2-2 record.
