![]() Fourteen ACC Student-Athletes Named To NFCA All-Region Softball Teams

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Student-athletes from Atlantic Coast Conference institutions were awarded 14 spots on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region teams, as announced Monday by the NFCA. Nine were named to first-teams in three different regions, while five were placed on second-teams. Leading all ACC schools with five total selections was North Carolina. The Tar Heels, who have already posted a school-record 50 wins in 2008 and enter this weekend's NCAA Regionals ranked 13th nationally, landed three spots on the All-Southeast Region first-team and added two to the second-team. Notable selections for the Tar Heels were ACC Player of the Year Danielle Spaulding, who made the first-team as a utility player/pitcher, and two-time ACC Pitcher of the Week Lisa Norris. Also boasting multiple All-Region honorees were league champion Virginia Tech with three, including ACC Pitcher of the Year Angela Tincher, and Maryland and NC State, which added two each. Georgia Tech and Boston College each had one selection on the Southeast and Northeast Region teams, respectively.
