Three ACC Teams Secure Spots In NCAA Softball Championship Field

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) - The NCAA has announced the field for the 2009 NCAA Softball Championship which gets underway on Thursday, May 14. ACC Champion Georgia Tech along with league runner-up Florida State and North Carolina were awarded home regionals for the 64-team tournament.

No. 14 seed Georgia Tech is the top seed in the Atlanta Regional and will open up against Boston University. Iowa and Auburn were also sent to Atlanta for the opening round of games when begin on Thursday.

The Tallahassee Regional will pit the No. 16 seeded Seminoles against Oklahoma State in the opener. California and Mississippi State also revived marching orders for the Tallahassee Regional which begins on Friday afternoon.

Georgia is the seeded team at the Chapel Hill Regional where North Carolina will face Campbell in the opening game. The Bulldogs will face Radford in Thursday's opening round.
