![]() 2003 All-ACC Softball Team Announced

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season champion Florida State leads the 2003 All-ACC softball team with five selections to the 12-member squad as voted upon by the league's five head coaches. Georgia Tech, North Carolina, and Virginia had two members make the team while Maryland placed one member on the squad. Florida State pitcher/outfielder Jessica van der Linden earned ACC Player of the Year honors. The junior from Cerritos, Calif., is currently leading the ACC in three offensive categories and two pitching categories. She is first in batting average (.439), on-base percentage (.571) and walks per game (.85). In terms of pitching, she leads the league in hits allowed (83) and runs allowed (30) and is second in total strikeouts (239). North Carolina pitcher Crystal Cox was voted as the league's Rookie of the Year. The freshman from Harrisburg, NC, has posted a 24-10 record along with three saves in 2003. She leads the conference in games started (33) and saves (3). She is second in the ACC in ERA (.86), total innings pitched (202.1), strikeouts (239) and wins (24). Florida State head coach JoAnne Graf was selected as the 2003 ACC Coach of the Year. This is the fifth honor for Graf who guided the Seminoles to the leagues first ever 8-0 record in the conference and an overall record of 43-9 in regular season play. Florida State has either won or shared the conference regular season title ten times in the league's twelve years of play under Coach Graf.
