GREENSBORO, N.C. - For the second week in a row, Georgia Tech's Whitney Humphreys has been selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week. Joining her this week as the league's softball Player of the Week is teammate Whitney Haller, who led the Tech offense to 31 runs in five contests last week.

Humphreys, who hails from Shady Spring, W. Va., appeared in all five Yellow Jackets games last week, posting four wins with a 1.40 ERA. In her first start of the week against Georgia Southern, the senior hurler tossed her third consecutive complete game, holding the Eagles scoreless and striking out eight in a 5-0 win. Humphreys recorded her 13th win of the season in the second game of a double-header against the Eagles, and then went on to pick up two more wins in a weekend series against ACC foe Boston College. In the two wins against BC, she pitched 9.1 innings, giving up just six hits and a single earned run. Humphreys, who struck out 26 in 25.0 innings pitched last week, now has 15 wins in 2008.

A junior first baseman for the Yellow Jackets, Haller was Tech's best offensive weapon in five games last week. In the two contests against Georgia Southern, she went 6-for-7, knocking in six RBIs with three doubles and a home run. In the weekend series with BC, the Marietta, Ga., native continued her strong play, hitting safely with one RBI in each game, as the Jackets won two of three. For the week, Haller went 10-for-15 (.667) at the plate, with a 1.067 slugging percentage and a .722 on-base percentage. Now with 46 career home runs, Haller needs just three more to tie the ACC's all-time record.

Back in action again this week, Tech will host a Wednesday double-header against Georgia State before taking on Maryland at home in Atlanta, Ga., this weekend. The Jackets will then have almost two weeks off before traveling to College Park, Md., for the 2008 ACC Softball Championship on May 8-11.
