Tech's Knobbe Ranked Ninth Nationally in RBI
April 15, 1999 ATLANTA - Georgia Tech softball catcher Anne Knobbe currently ranks ninth in Division I in runs batted in per game, the NCAA has released after games through April 11. Knobbe, a junior from Brea, Calif., leads both Tech and the Atlantic Coast Conference in RBI with 47 and had an average of 1.09 per game after last weekends action. This year, she broke the former school record of 41 RBI in a season, which was set by Stephanie Weitman in 1995. Knobbe is currently the only league player ranked nationally in an offensive category. She also leads the Yellow Jackets in homeruns with seven, slugging percentage at .590 and in total hits with 50. Tech, which is 20-27 overall, is back in action Sunday when it hosts Troy State in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
