TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State Seminoles defeated the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 3-1 to claim the 2004 ACC Softball Championship Title. A crowd of 595 fans at the Seminole Softball Complex on the campus of Florida State University watched the Seminoles win their tenth ACC crown in 13 years.

A pair of freshmen put Florida State on top 2-0 in the second inning when LaShaun Davis hit an RBI triple to right center field to send senior Beth Wade home. Veronica Wootson then added Florida State's second run with a bunt single to first base, scoring Davis.

Junior Lesley Palmer added another run for the Seminoles in the fifth inning on a two-out RBI double off the left field fence. Florida State led 3-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning.

Georgia Tech sophomore Lauren Schlechte broke up Florida State hurler Casey Hunter's no-hitter in the bottom of the sixth inning with a leadoff double. Two outs later, senior Tara Knudsen plated Schlechte on a single up the middle to bring the Yellow Jackets with two 3-1. Florida State would go on to record a 3-1 victory and claim the ACC crown.

Florida State scored three runs on eight hits and committed three errors, while Georgia Tech notched one run on three hits and committed no errors.
