April 28, 1999

ATLANTA - Georgia first baseman Jessica Cerra had two home runs and a school-record six RBI to lift the Bulldogs past Georgia Tech, 10-0, Wednesday in collegiate softball at Glenn Field. The Bulldogs moved to 26-23 after the victory, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 20-33 with the loss.

Cerra connected on a two-run homer in the first inning and belted a grand slam in the decisive six-run fourth inning. Second baseman Lisa Schutt had a two-RBI single in the second inning and a RBI triple in the fourth to aid the Georgia attack. Winning pitcher Natalie Price allowed just four hits to the Jackets in moving her record to 19-11 on the season.

Centerfielder Heather Sumrow led Tech with a 2-for-2 day at the plate and first baseman Abby Bickford and right fielder Kori Jacobson each contributed a single apiece. The Bulldogs touched Tech starter Mimi Utt for four earned runs, and scored six off of reserve Jamie Smith, but only one was earned after an infield error started the Bulldog rally in the fourth.

Tech returns to action when it faces UNC Charlotte Saturday and Sunday in single games at 1 p.m. each day.
