April 24, 2008 Taylor Peyton No Hits Rhode Island as Softball Sweeps Doubleheader Kingston, R.I. - Sophomore Taylor Peyton excelled for the Boston College softball team (27-26, 3-12 ACC) once again, this time in the circle, as she no-hit Rhode Island (14-34, 4-12 A10) in the first game of Thursday's doubleheader, boosting the squad to a 4-0 win. BC went on to complete the sweep in the second game winning by a score of 8-4 in nine innings at the URI Softball Complex. BC-4, Rhode Island-0- Peyton (13-10) pitched her first career no-hitter in her 22nd start this season, also earning her first shutout and 11th complete game. On the day, Peyton faced 21 batters, walking one and striking out three. Sophomore Dani Weir got the Eagles' offense started with a two-run homerun, her fifth this season, in the top of third inning. Peyton began the inning with a walk. After two BC outs, Weir homered to left field, scoring Peyton for a 2-0 advantage. Two more runs came across in the top of the fifth inning for BC. Senior Amanda Booth reached on an error to start off. Sophomore Amy Tunstall singled, advancing Booth. Peyton reached on another fielding error to load the bases. Junior Renee Ramos then singled, scoring Booth and pinch runner Allie Thunstrom. The Eagles collected a total of eight hits in game with two from Ramos and two from freshman Nicole Troncoso.
