No. 11/8 Softball Hangs On To Beat Georgia State, 7-3
The No. 11/8 Georgia Tech Softball team (19-2) scored five runs in the first inning and hung on to beat Georgia State (12-6), 7-3, Tuesday night for its ninth straight win. Sophomore Jessica Sinclair's three-run home run in the first inning was the difference as the Yellow Jackets escaped several late-inning jams by the Panthers.

Junior Kristen Adkins (5-0) picked up the win as she allowed three runs (none earned) on seven hits and four walks in four-plus innings. She had four strikeouts. With the bases loaded and no outs in a 5-3 game in the fifth, sophomore Jessica Coan came in and got out of the inning without any more damage. Coan completed the game for her first save of the season as she pitched three innings and allowed just one walk and one hit with five strikeouts.

Tech scored quickly as it took advantage of the wildness of Georgia State starting pitcher Alana Thomas. After sophomore Kelsi Weseman doubled to start the game, Thomas walked redshirt senior Jen Yee and freshman Hope Rush to load the bases. After a wild pitch scored the first run, Thomas hit junior Kristine Priebe to re-load the bases and that would be the end of the day for her.

No. 16 FSU Beats MSU, 7-0
The No. 16 Florida State softball team defeated Michigan State, 7-0, Tuesday afternoon at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, Fla.

With the win, the Seminoles (21-2) cap off an impressive five days on the campus of Florida Atlantic University in which they went a perfect 6-0.

Before FSU welcomes ACC foe North Carolina to Tallahassee this weekend, Hamilton pitched another gem on Tuesday against the Spartans.

Johnson And Spaulding Combine To No-Hit CS Fullerton; Heels Win, 6-0
Amber Johnson and Danielle Spaulding combined to throw a no-hitter as the (16-3) No. 18 North Carolina Tar Heels win over the (3-17) Cal State Fullerton Titans, 6-0. A four-run sixth inning with big hits from Anna Roberts and Danielle Spaulding led Carolina's offense on the way to the Tar Heels' 15th straight win. This is the fifth time this season that the Tar Heels have thrown a no-hitter.

Three of the previous no-hitters were courtesy of Danielle Spaulding with Johnson hurling the other one vs. Pittsburgh earlier this season.

Spaulding dominated the Fullerton lineup striking out 9 batters in four innings of work. Spaulding, the past two-year ACC Player of the Year, is the current career leader in strikeouts per seven innings and third all-time with an 11.9 strike out rate.

Longwood Sweeps DH from Cavalier Softball
The Virginia softball team (8-9) was swept by Longwood (11-7) in a doubleheader Tuesday in Farmville, Va. The Lancers topped the Cavaliers 5-3 in the first game and 1-0 in the second game.

Longwood earned a comeback victory in the first game after outhitting UVa 8-6. The Cavaliers were unable to string together multiple-hit innings. Senior Sarah Tacke was the lone Wahoo with two hits with a single in the fourth and a home run in the sixth. Giannina Cipolloni, Clara Kendall, Abby Snyder and Taylor Williams also recorded singles for the Orange and Blue.

Virginia took a 1-0 lead in the second inning thanks to some aggressive base running and a Lancer error. Alison Pittman scored the first run after reaching on a fielder's choice and stealing second. She came in from second when Alex Skinkis hit a grounder to the shortstop that was overthrown at first base.
