![]() Softball ACCtion: Wednesday, February 13
Feb. 13, 2008 Florida State Wins 101st Meeting with Florida A&M TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - In the 101st meeting between the teams, Florida State defeated Florida A&M 9-1 at the Seminole Softball Complex on a cold and windy Wednesday night. The win, in a game that counted as a home meeting for the Rattlers, improves the Seminoles' season record to 3-2 and propels the series record to 94-7. "I think the weather conditions were rough on both teams," Florida State head coach JoAnne Graf said. "We were able to get a hit early in the first inning and that put some pressure on FAMU. But I think both teams held up well in the cold." Securing the win for FSU was junior Melissa May who pitched the first 3.1 innings. May allowed only three hits and one earned run while walking two and striking out one. Freshman Sarah Hamilton entered in the fourth after a line drive to May's hand took her out of the game. Hamilton, credited with the save, pitched 3.2 innings allowing only two hits with no runs, two walks and struck out nine batters. "Sarah really improved tonight from her first performance last weekend," Graf said. "I was excited to see that since we are going to need her in the next few weeks."
