In voting of a selected panel of Division 1 head coaches and Soccer Buzz staff, all 314 Division 1 programs were eligible for the awards that have been presented since 1996. In a year that saw veteran players help elevate women's soccer to a new level of parity, a total of twenty-five players were repeaters from previous All-America teams including three (Lauren Cheney, UCLA; Kerri Hanks, Notre Dame; and Kasey Moore, Texas) who duplicated their first team selections from last season. The top one percent of women's soccer players were recognized with the naming of four All-America teams. Ashlee Pistorius of Texas A&M earned her fourth All-America honor from Soccer Buzz, becoming just the 12th player to achieve a four-peat. She is the first Big 12 player to join the exclusive 4-time All-America club. Seven players earned their third All-America status, with five having made the first team at some point during their college careers. Three of those seven (Melanie Booth, Florida; Stephanie Lopez, Portland; and Becky Sauerbrunn, Virginia) earned All-America honorable mention status once during their careers to go along with their three-time full All-America status. Fifteen schools had multiple All-Americas named led by North Carolina with four honorees and six others that had three selections. All four College Cup participants had three All-Americas each including USC's record total of three which equaled the school's all-time total of previous award winners. Connecticut, North Carolina and Portland all had two players each named to the first team. The ACC and Big East led all conferences with three first-team selections and eleven total recipients each. The Pac-10 followed with nine All-America honorees as the Big Ten and SEC each had six players recognized. In all, nine conferences had players earn All-America distinction as Purdue placed a player on the first team for the first time in school history. Georgetown and South Carolina both had an athlete named All-America for the first time in their programs' histories. Only two freshmen (Amanda DaCosta of Florida State and Ingrid Wells of Georgetown) earned full All-America status, matching 1998's total of two as the lowest number of rookies in one season to be named All-Americans.
DaCosta and Wells led their programs to record years with the selections of the Freshman All-America teams. Florida State dominated with a record four rookies named to the squads while Wells joined teammate Michaela Buonomo to give Georgetown its first-ever Freshman All-America honorees. A total of thirty-three schools were represented as fifteen had mutiple selections including four programs (Boston College, Georgia, Portland and USC) with three each. Purdue also made history as Jessica Stellhorn became the Boilermakers' first-ever player to be named a first-team Freshman All-America. The freshmen honors list was ruled by the ACC's 16 selections with the Pac-10 earning nine nods. The ACC placed six players on the first-team led by Virginia and Florida State with two first-team honorees each. The 2007 National Awards for Player, Freshman and Coach of the Year will be announced on Friday, December 28.
