GREENSBORO, N.C. - Sanna Talonen of Florida State has been selected the 2007 Soccer America Freshman of the Year, as announced by the national organization Thursday. Soccer America also announced its postseason awards as a total of 13 women's soccer student-athletes from the Atlantic Coast Conference were honored with five named Soccer America MVPs and eight earned a spot on the All-Freshman squad.

Talonen, who highlights the All-Freshman Team as a first-team pick, had an outstanding freshman campaign for Florida State. She finished the year with 42 points on 18 goals and six assists with eight of those goals scored in the NCAA Tournament. She became the first Seminole to score a pair of hat tricks in the NCAA Tournament, tallying all the goals scored in wins over Kennesaw State (3-0) and Connecticut (3-2). The native from Tampere, Finland, concluded the 2007 season as the school's all-time freshman leader for goals, points and game-winning goals.

The ACC led all conferences as seven student-athletes from five schools were represented on the All-Freshman team. Florida State placed three student-athletes, while Virginia landed a pair. Boston College, Miami and North Carolina completed the all-rookie squad with one nod apiece.

North Carolina's Yael Averbuch, one of five holdovers from the 2006 MVP selections, was a first-team selection along with international sensation Mami Yamaguchi from Florida State.
