GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Atlantic Coast Conference had six women's soccer student-athletes named to the 2007 National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas All-American team with Florida State's Mami Yamaguchi, North Carolina's Yael Averbuch and Tobin Heath, and Virginia's Nikki Krzysik and Becky Sauerbrunn recognized on the first team, while Jessica Maxwell of North Carolina earned a spot on the third.

Recently named a finalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy and a first team All-Southeast Region selection, Yamaguchi was an offensive power for Florida State in 2007. The ACC Offensive Player of the Year and first team All-ACC pick led the league in points (66), points per game (2.44), goals (24), goals per game (0.89), assists (18) and assists per game (0.67). She also finished among the top 10 in the nation in points (fourth), goals (fifth) and assists (sixth) per game. The junior forward from Tokyo, Japan, was instrumental in helping the Seminoles post their best campaign in school history as FSU advanced to the NCAA College Cup championship game for the first time.

Averbuch and Heath, both midfielders from New Jersey, and Maxwell, a defender from Colleyville, Texas, played pivotal roles in North Carolina's run for its third-straight league championship crown and 18th in the last years. The Tar Heels, one of only two schools to have competed in the NCAA since its inception in 1982, returned to the national postseason event for the 26th consecutive year and earned a No. 1 overall seed. The NSCAA All-America honors were the second straight for Averbuch, Heath and Maxwell. The trio was also named to the 2007 NSCAA All-Southeast Region. Averbuch, who was tabbed Soccer Buzz Player of the Year last season, was named a finalist for the 2007 award along with Heath.

Key to Virginia's success this season was defenders Becky Sauerbrunn and Nikki Krzysik. The 2007 ACC Defensive Player of the Year Sauerbrunn anchored a Virginia defense that led the nation in goals against average (0.40) and set a school record with 15 shutouts. Krzysik, a junior from Clifton, N.J., earned first team All-ACC honors after starting every game and posting a career-high four goals and three assists. Sauerbrunn and Krzysik, a 2007 finalist for Soccer Buzz Player of the Year, were also named first team All-Mid Atlantic Region by NSCAA.
