GREENSBORO, N.C. - Nineteen women’s soccer student-athletes from eight Atlantic Coast Conference schools were recognized on the 2008 ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District teams.

Florida State led all schools with five total selections to the All-District III team. Duke and North Carolina each had three student-athletes honored, while Clemson, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest each had two and Miami one. Boston College saw one player named to the All-District I team.

All of North Carolina’s selections – goalkeeper Anna Rodenbough, midfielder Yael Averbuch and defender Kristi Eveland – were first-team selections, as were Clemson defender Molly Johnson and forward Julie Bolt, and Boston College defender Caroline Walden.

The ACC’s All-District second-team selections include Wake Forest midfielders Amy Smerdzinski and Camelyn Dillon, Florida State defender Becky Edwards and forward Sanna Talonen, Miami defender Brittney Macdonald, Duke defender Christie McDonald and Virginia Tech forward Emily Jukich.

Duke defender Kendall Bradley and Kelly Hathorn, Florida State midfielders Marissa Kazbour and Lauren Switzer and defender Katrin Schmidt and Virginia Tech’s Jennider Harvey represent the conference on the third team.

To be nominated, the student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for his/her career. A student-athlete is not eligible until he/she has reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her current institution.
