Sept. 9, 2008

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Miami freshman goalkeeper Vikki Alonzo has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 9.

Alonzo recorded her third and fourth shutouts of the season as the unbeaten Hurricanes went on the road to blank Arkansas-Little Rock and defending Conference USA champion Memphis by identical 3-0 scores.

Alonzo and Miami prevailed against Memphis despite being out-shot 16-7, and the Carrollton, Texas, native stepped up to record six saves while playing the full 90 minutes.

The Hurricanes, whose 5-0 start matches the best in program history, are scheduled to play host to Purdue on Wednesday night (Sept. 10).
