BOSTON COLLEGE
This Week: FR - Northeastern; SU at Holy Cross
Last Week: L, 0-1 (OT) at Boston U; W, 2-1 at CCSU
Freshman forward Gina DiMartino scored the game-tying goal in the first half and then won the match for the Eagles with a goal in the 83rd minute of action with a 2-1 victory over Central Connecticut State last Sunday...it was the first two goals of her collegiate career...BC dropped its season opener to cross-town rival Boston University 1-0 in overtime...the Eagles return a league-high 10 starters from last year's squad.
CLEMSON
This Week: FR at Colorado; SU vs. Denver
Last Week: W, 1-0 UAB; W, 7-0 Tennessee Tech
The Tigers are off to a 2-0 start with shutout victories over UAB and Tennessee Tech this past weekend...Clemson outshot Tech 30-0 en route to a seven goal output...Meghan Smith tallied three goals...Julie Bolt notched four assists in the first half breaking the school record for most assists in a single half, while also tying the school record for most assists in a game...freshman Nuria Zufia scored the game-winner against UAB.
DUKE

Duke successfully opened its 2006 schedule with wins over No. 27 St. Louis and Western Carolina in Durham...freshman KayAnne Gummersall and Elisabeth Redmond each scored their first collegiate goal in the Blue Devils win over the Bilikens...Sarah McCabe nets game-winner in 1-0 shutout over Western Carolina...assistant coach Carla Overbeck inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame on Monday in Oneonta, N.Y.
FLORIDA STATE

Last Week: W, 2-1 #1 Portland
FSU opened its 2006 season beating top-ranked Portland, 2-1...the win snapped the defending national champion Pilots' 26-game unbeaten streak...the Seminoles outshot the Pilots 25-5...after trailing 1-0 at the half, India Trotter tied the game in the 69th minute followed by Mami Yamaguchi's game-winner in the 80th minute of action...FSU has taken over the top spot in the Soccer America rankings - its first No. 1 ranking in school history.
MARYLAND

Last Week: W, 1-0 vs. #10 Tenn.; L, 0-3 vs. #1 UCLA
Maryland returned to College Park with a 1-1 mark after facing two, top-ranked teams at the Penn State Tourney...freshman Emily Maynard scored her first collegiate goal in her first college game to give the Terps a 1-0 win over #10 Tennessee...the victory marks the first-time in MD's 20-year history that it defeated a ranked team on the road in its season opener...the Terps have defeated at least one Top 25 team every season since 1999.
MIAMI
This Week: FR vs. High Point; SU at UNC Greensboro
Last Week: W, 2-0 UCF; W, 2-0 Samford
Four different Hurricane players scored a goal as Miami opened the 2006 season with a pair of 2-0 victories...the back-to-back shutouts by the Hurricanes mark just the third time in school history that Miami has begun a season holding the first two opponents scoreless...GK Laura McAdam got the start in net collecting 10 saves in the two games posting her fifth and sixth career shutouts.
NORTH CAROLINA

Last Week: L, 0-1(2OT) at #9 TX A&M; W, 3-0 at SMU
Yael Averbuch registered her first multi-goal game of her career scoring twice in a span of two and a half minutes midway through the first half in UNC's 3-0 win at SMU...the Tar Heels suffered a 2OT loss to Texas A&M, dropping their season opener for the first time since 1983...the loss was only the 28th in the history of UNC soccer dating back to its first season in 1979...GK Anna Rodenbough made a career-high eight saves in 110 minutes of action.
NC STATE
This Week: FR - Wyoming; SU - Elon
Last Week: W, 2-0 W. Carolina; W, 2-0 UNC Wilmington
For the second straight year, NC State has opened the season with back-to-back shutout victories...both games were decided by 2-0 decisions as both goals in each game were scored in the second half...four different Wolfpack players scored a goal including freshman Briana Cunningham with her first collegiate score, the game-winner vs. WCU...GK Megan Conners collected a season-high five saves against UNC Wilmington.
VIRGINIA
This Week: WED - VCU; SU at Tennessee
Last Week: W, 6-0 Syracuse; W, 1-0 Liberty
Virginia won a pair of games this past weekend to start the 2006 season...UVa opened with a 6-0 win over Syrause - the seventh straight shutout on opening day...the Cavaliers outshot the Orange 19-0 marking the third time in the past two years the Cavaliers have held an opponent without a shot...Jen Redmond tallied five points including the game-winning goals in each of the Cavs first two games to surpass her GWG total of one from a season ago.
VIRGINIA TECH

Last Week: T, 1-1 George Mason; W, 6-0 Radford
After scoring 18 goals in 19 games last year, the Virginia Tech Hokies tallied seven goals in the first two games of the 2006 season to post a 1-0-1 mark...freshman Emily Jukich registered her first career hat trick in the Hokies 6-0 win over Radford...Gina Om tallied three goals in two games including the equalizer in the 39th minute of action in a 1-1 tie vs. George Mason...Laurie Beth Puglisi had a nice weekend adding a goal and two assists.
WAKE FOREST

Last Week: L, 0-1 at #2 Santa Clara; W, 2-1(OT) vs. #19 Stanford
Wake Forest opened the 2006 campaign out on the west coast against a pair of ranked teams...GK Kaitlyn Doe registered four saves for the Deacs as they dropped their season opener, 1-0 to Santa Clara...on Sunday, junior Megan Upchurch led Wake to victory scoring both goals in a 2-1 win over Stanford...Upchurch tallied the equalizer with seven minutes remaining and then scored the game-winner in the 94th minute.
