Virginia's Lenczyk named ACC Women's Soccer Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Meghan Lenczyk , who registered Virginia's first consecutive multiple-goal games in 13 years, has been named the first Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the 2010 season.
It is the second major honor of the week for Lenczyk, who on Monday was named the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Player of the Week. The senior forward from McLean, Va., registered nine total points and game-winning goals in both matches as the Cavaliers blanked two teams that were preseason favorites to win their respective conferences.
Lenczyk tallied a pair of goals and an assist as Virginia downed Big South favorite Liberty 4-0 in last Friday night's season opener. She came back with a pair of goals on Sunday, leading the Cavaliers to a 6-0 victory over Patriot League favorite Colgate. She became the first Cavalier to have consecutive multi-goal games since Angela Hucles in 1997. The multi-goal games were the fifth and sixth of Lenczyk's career.
Twenty matches into the young season, ACC teams stand a collective 16-3-2 vs. non-conference opposition. This weekend's action includes a Friday night matchup between No. 1 North Carolina and No. 2 Stanford in the Carolina Nike Classic at Chapel Hill, N.C. No. 22 Duke, which meets Missouri in the Classic on Friday night, will face Stanford on Sunday. Virginia travels to No. 11 Penn State in another Friday meeting of ranked teams, while No. 15 Virginia Tech visits No. 9 Texas A&M.
The remainder of Friday's schedule finds No. 12 Maryland at Tennessee, Hofstra at No. 6 Boston College, No. 15 Wake Forest at East Carolina, Miami at Purdue, Clemson at Belmont, and High Point at NC State.
