GREENSBORO N.C. - The Atlantic Coast Conference, with a total of 10 selections, is the league with the most representatives among 38 female student-athletes named to the Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy Watch List for the 2012 season.
The MAC Hermann Trophy is the highest individual award in intercollegiate soccer presented annually in January during a banquet at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.
ACC representatives on this year’s list include Boston College midfielder Kristen Mewis; Duke defender Natasha Anasi (2011 ACC Defensive Player of the Year) and midfielder Kaitlyn Kerr; Florida State defender Ines Juarena and forward Tiffany McCarty; North Carolina defender Crystal Dunn; Virginia midfielder Morgan Brian (2011 ACC Freshman of the Year) and forward Caroline Miller; and Wake Forest forward Katie Stengel (2011 ACC Offensive Player of the Year) and goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe.
A total of nine semifinalists from the 2011 Watch List return including Anasi, Brian, Jaurena, McCarty and Stengel, who is a two-time semifinalist in 2010 and 2011.
The list will be narrowed down by NSCAA members from Division I programs to 15 semifinalists by Nov. 29. Member coaches and fans will then vote for their top three choices and the finalists will be announced Dec. 6. The winner will be announced at the awards’ banquet at the Missouri Athletic Club on Friday, Jan. 11.
