GREENSBORO, N.C. – Eleven Atlantic Coast Conference women’s soccer matches are set for national or regional telecast during the 2011 season, including the ACC Championship title game Nov. 6 on ESPNU.
Both semifinal games of the ACC Championship will be televised on Nov. 4, as well as an unprecedented eight regular-season games.
In addition to the ACC Championship title game, ESPNU will also broadcast the regular-season matchup between North Carolina and Virginia on Sunday, Sept. 25.
The ACC Championship semifinal games will be carried by ESPN3.com, which also plans to carry the Florida State-North Carolina regular-season match on Sept. 29, as well as the Duke-Wake Forest match on Oct. 20.
Four matches are set for Thursday evening telecast by the ACC’s Regional Sports Network (RSN), beginning with Florida State’s trip to defending conference champion Wake Forest on Sept. 15. Other RSN telecasts will include Boston College at Maryland on Sept. 22, Virginia at Duke on Sept. 29 and Clemson at North Carolina on Oct. 6.
The Fox Soccer Channel (FSC) will again air a game involving ACC teams, with Virginia playing host to Virginia Tech on Thursday, Oct. 20.
ACC Women’s Soccer is coming off a 2010 season which saw five teams – Boston College, North Carolina, Florida State, Virginia and Maryland – finish the year ranked among the nation’s Top 10. Two more teams – Duke and Wake Forest – finished last season ranked among the Top 25. With Boston College advancing to play in the 2010 College Cup, the ACC has placed at least one team among the final four of the NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship in 28 of the 29 years the event has been held.
