Updating Former Women's Soccer Stars In WUSA
July 31, 2003 COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Women's United Soccer Association is home to three of the most prolific scorers in the history of Maryland women's soccer. Drafted in the 13th round in 2000, Emily Janss has been a pleasant surprise for the New York Power, starting 14 of 19 games and connecting for three goals and one assist. The third-year midfielder is second on the Power with 13 shots on goal, trailing only U.S. national team member Tiffeny Milbrett. Janss left her mark at Maryland by registering 17 goals and 42 points, the ninth highest total in school history. Perhaps no tandem was more potent during their four years in College Park (1995-1998) than Robin McCullough and Keri Sarver. Appropriately, the two Maryland standouts have been reunited as teammates, this time with the Carolina Courage. McCullough has seen action in 10 games and has one assist thus far. As a Terrapin, she played in a record 97 games and finished sixth in career goals (21), third in assists (24) and third in points (66).
Sarver has yet to see action with the Courage since being picked up as a free agent on July 8. To this day, the All-American's legacy encompasses the records for most career and single-season goals (61 and 21 respectively), assists (33, 15) and points (155, 49) at Maryland.
