Duke Women's Soccer Hires Ed Moore To Coach Goalkeepers
May 11, 2004 DURHAM, N.C. - Duke University Head Women's Soccer Coach Robbie Church announced on Tuesday the hiring of Ed Moore from the University of Evansville as assistant coach in charge of the goalkeepers.
"We are very excited to have Ed join our program at Duke," said Church. "He has done an unbelievable job of preparing himself for a coaching position and has worked very hard to get experience. He did a great job last year working with the men's and women's programs at Evansville and will be a big plus for our program in coaching our goalkeepers."
Moore, a 2004 graduate of Evansville, was the men's and women's soccer assistant coach in 2003-04 as he was responsible for training the goalkeepers, arranged travel, scouting, organized summer camps, video editing and recruiting.
"I am very thankful that Duke has given me the opportunity to be a part of their staff," said Moore. "I look forward to working with the team and sharing my goalkeeping knowledge with them. I will bring a hard work ethic and a great passion for the sport of soccer every day."
A four-year letterwinner at Evansville, Moore played in 54 career matches and started 50 in goal for the Purple Aces. He collected a 1.77 goals against average and was the 2001 winner of the Spirit of the Aces Award for his leadership and team commitment. As a senior, Moore was selected to the All-Tournament teams at the ProRehab Aces Soccer Classic in Evansville and at the TLC Plumbing & Utility Classic in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Moore is a native of Madison, Miss., and owns a USSF "A" Coaching license. He received his degree in Educational Studies on May 8, 2004.
