Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Midfielder's Jenny Maurer and Heather Ferron will serve as co-captains of the 2006 Boston College women's soccer team, according to an announcement made by Eagles' head coach Alison Foley at the team's annual awards banquet.

Maurer served as a co-captain in 2005, leading the team in points (10) and assists (six). She has started in every game since her freshman year, collecting 35 points on nine goals and 17 assists. The versatile Maurer saw action in both the offensive and defensive ends in 2005. The East Longmeadow, Mass., native earned New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Division I first-team and Soccer Buzz Northeast Region second-team honors. Maurer also garnered All-ACC academic honors. In January, Maurer was invited to train with the U-21 National Team in Carson, Calif.

Ferron earned All-ACC academic team recognition last season. She has played in 21 games in the 2005 and tallied one goal and four assists. Her goal was the gamewinner against Holy Cross on Aug. 28. She also had a game-winning assist against NC State on Oct. 16. Throughout her four-year career at the Heights, Ferron has played in 63 games and scored seven goals.

Also honored at the team's banquet were freshman Kerri McNicholas (Rookie of the Year), Molly Dane (Offensive Player of the Year) Lindsey McArdle (Defensive Player of the Year) and Meghan Nadolski (Coaches Award).

The 10th-ranked Eagles return 10 starters in 2006. They finished their 2005 campaign with a 13-6-2 overall record and 5-4-1 in the ACC. BC advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year.
