GREENSBORO, N.C. - Florida State senior midfielder Tori Huster has been named the 2011 Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year and heads up the sport's All-ACC Academic Team, as announced today by Commissioner John Swofford.
All 11 league schools that compete in women's soccer are represented on this year's All-ACC Academic Team, which includes four student-athletes that earned 2011 All-America honors. The All-ACC Academic Team also includes 14 players that were named first- or second-team All-ACC and four members of the ACC All-Freshmen team. Four were named Academic All-America by CoSIDA/Capital One or the NSCAA, and 13 earned All-District Academic honors.
2011 NCAA Women's College Cup participants Duke, Florida State and Wake Forest placed a combined 22 honorees on the All-Academic team.
FSU's Huster garnered third team NSCAA All-America, first team All-ACC, first team Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District and College Cup All-Tournament team honors in 2011. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Huster finished her senior campaign fourth on the team in points with 16 on six goals and four assists. She started all 26 games for the Seminoles in 2011 and wrapped up her four-year career in Tallahassee with 91 starts - fifth most in school history.
An Exercise Science Major at FSU, Huster was named a first team Scholar All-American as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. She is the fifth FSU student-athlete to receive that honor.
The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards were established in September 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports. Candidates for the awards must have maintained a 3.0 grade point average for their career as well as a 3.0 for each of the last two semesters.
To be eligible for All-ACC Academic Team consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
The 2011 All-ACC Academic Women's Soccer team is as follows:
