Nov. 4, 2007 The 2007 ACC Women's Soccer Championship will be held at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla this week -- November 7-11. The bracket will be released on Monday, November 5. No. 12 Wake Heats Up No. 25 Miami With 2-0 Shutout The No. 12 Wake Forest women's soccer team defeated No. 25 Miami 2-0 at Spry Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The win inched the Demon Deacons past Florida State in the ACC regular season standings, giving the squad a second place conference finish behind North Carolina with an 11-5-3, 6-2-2 record. Miami is now 4-4-2 in ACC play and 9-6-4 overall. Amy Smerdzinski netted the game-winner in the 43rd minute, with assists by Allie Sadow and Camelyn Dillon. Sadow set the final Deacon mark at 2-0 with a goal in the 76th minute. Kinser scores two goals in 3-0 shutout over No. 10 Boston College With her parents in attendance, senior Ashley Kinser made her last game in Blacksburg a historic one for the Virginia Tech women's soccer program as she scored two goals in the first seven minutes of the game to help the Hokies shut out No. 10 Boston College, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Virginia Tech Soccer Stadium. With the victory, the Hokies have concluded the regular season with their second-ever winning record at 8-7-3 (3-5-2 ACC), while the NSCAA/adidas No. 10-ranked Boston College Eagles see their three-game winning streak snap as they drop to 11-4-3 overall and 4-4-2 in conference play. Also, Tech has earned its first-ever win over the Eagles in the six-game series after tying BC the last two seasons and has defeated its highest ranked opponent in program history. Maryland Shuts Out NC State On Senior Day Senior midfielder Kelly Rozumalski made her final match as a Terp a memorable one as she scored the game-winning goal to lead the University of Maryland women's soccer team to a 2-0 win on "Senior Day" over NC State Sunday afternoon at Ludwig Field. The Terps came out aggressive on offense and nearly jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute. Senior midfielder Melissa Hornfeck sent a bending corner kick from the right corner to the near post. Redshirt junior Nataly Arias fought to the spot and got a piece of the ball, sending it into the right side of the Wolfpack goal. The celebration was short-lived however as the referee called an obstruction foul and waived off the goal. Although the Terps didn't get the score that play set the tone for the match and Maryland would not be denied for long.
