Hurricanes Upset No. 2 North Carolina
The University of Miami women's soccer team (8-8-1, 3-4-1) upended the defending National Champion and second ranked North Carolina (12-3-1, 5-3-0) by a 1-0 score, Sunday afternoon at Cobb Stadium. UNC is the highest ranked opponent Miami has ever defeated.

The Hurricanes' senior captains provided the games only score in the 81st minute. Jessica Wyble fed the ball to Beverly Goebel, who won the 50/50 challenge from a UNC defender before a blast from 25 yards out found the upper right corner of the net.

Goebel's goal was her third of the season, tying her with Brittney Steinbruch and Kate Howarth for the team lead. More impressive than the goal may have been the play of the Hurricane defense. Miami's game plan coming in was to not get beat outside and the `Canes backline performed to perfection. Vikki Alonzo picked up her sixth shutout of the season, only needing to make two saves - both in the second half.

FSU Downs NC State 2-0
Seventh-ranked Florida State (13-2-1, 6-1-1 ACC) closed out its regular season home schedule undefeated with a 2-0 victory over NC State (7-8-2, 2-6-1 ACC) on Senior Day at the Seminole Soccer Complex. The Noles scored a pair of second half goals in a span of two minutes and 32 seconds to down the Wolfpack for the ninth time in a row.

With a victory on Sunday, Florida State maintained its lead a top the ACC standings with 19 points.

Jessica Price and Tiffany McCarty were responsible for the goals on Sunday scoring in the same game for the eighth time this season.

No. 8 Boston College Rolls Past Clemson, 5-0
Boston College freshman Victoria DiMartino scored two first half goals as Boston College rolled past ACC foe Clemson, 5-0, on Sunday afternoon at Historic Riggs Field. The Eagles are now 13-2-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the ACC.

The Eagles dominated from the start as they fired six shots on goal in the first seven minutes of play. Just 10 minutes into the game, Victoria DiMartino scored off a pass from fellow freshman Kristen Mewis. At the 36th minute in the match, DiMartino gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead. Junior Hannah Cerrone set up DiMartino on the goal.

Boston College went up 3-0 at the 45th minute on Jillian MacNeil's second goal of the season. Sophomore Julia Bouchelle earned the assist on the play.

Seniors Key Duke to 4-1 Win Over No. 13 Hokies
Sunday was already a special day on the campus of Duke University as four Blue Devil seniors -- Jane Alukonis, KayAnne Gummersall, Sara Murphy and Elisabeth Redmond -- were recognized prior to the contest against No. 13 Virginia Tech, but it got even more special once the match started as Duke netted its biggest win of the season with a 4-1 victory over the Hokies at Koskinen Stadium.

Heading into Sunday's match, Duke was needing a signature victory for the season and the Blue Devils were very impressive as they dominated the action and scored four unanswered goals on the way to improve to 7-6-4 overall and 3-3-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The Blue Devils remained in seventh place in the ACC with 11 points with two regular season contests to play.

Virginia Tech got on the board first in the match after a turnover in the midfield by the Blue Devils led to a corner kick. Stephanie Hylton sent a short pass off the corner kick outside the box to Kelsey Mitchell who fired in a long cross at the Duke goal. Blue Devil freshman goalkeeper Tara Campbell stepped in, then back and couldn't hold onto the ball. It dropped in front of the goal line and Brittany Michels tapped in her first goal of the season.
