Box Score

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Freshman Allie Sadow scored a pair of goals in the first half to help lead the No. 21 Wake Forest women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Wyoming, Sunday afternoon at Spry Stadium. The win improves the Demon Deacons to 3-1 on the season, while the loss drops the Cowgirls to 1-2-1.

The Demon Deacons, currently on a three game winning streak, have outshot their opponents 59-18 over the last three games, including taking 24 shots to Wyoming's four.

Sadow, who currently leads the Deacs with four goals on the year, scored her first off a pass from from sophomore Camelyn Dillon in the 21st minute. She scored again eight minutes later as she popped the ball into the net after defeating the Ashley Sheppard, the Wyoming goalkeeper, in an one-on-one.

The Demon Deacons offense continued to dominate the game in the final minutes of the first half as freshman Sarah Winslow helped create another scoring opportunity with a shot from the far corner of the 18-yard line. Sheppard saved the ball, but it bobbled out of her hands and onto the foot of senior Kristen Kemp, who connected, giving Wake Forest a 3-0 advantage going into the intermission.

In the second stanza, the Deacs held onto control of the game, taking six shots in the first six minutes, but Wyoming was able to get on the board in the 64th minute with a quick breakaway. Alone at the top of the box, Emily Layton fired it past freshman Laura Morse for the Cowgirls only goal of the day.

On the day, Morse registered one save, while Sheppard earned three in 45 minutes of action. Playing in the second half for Wyoming, Jamie Scarcliff earned four saves.

Wake Forest will next travel to the Virginia Tech Classic in Blacksburg, Va. to face Liberty and James Madison on Sept. 8 and 10, respectively.
