Boston College's First Varsity Eight Named ACC Rowing Crew of the Week

Greensboro, N.C. (theACC.com) — Boston College’s First Varsity Eight crew which helped lead the Eagles to capturing the Irving-Christensen Cup, was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Crew of the Week Wednesday by the ACC.
The 1V8+ crew, consisting of freshman coxswain Kelly McElduff (Westborough, Mass.), senior Erin Roche (Niskayuna, N.Y.), freshman Nicole Frederick (Villanova, Pa.), junior Jennifer Johnson (Andover, Mass.), senior Emily Charnowski (St. Louis, Mo.), freshman Ellen Burr (Cazenovia, N.Y.), junior Erica Jennings (Northport, N.Y.) and junior Sarah Loiselle (Westmont, Ill.), recorded a time of 6:52.99, in defeating Holy Cross (6:55.72) and Massachusetts (6:55.42) last Saturday on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
The win by the Eagles was one of five victories in six races for BC, which also captured the Second Varsity Eight, the Third Varsity Eight, the Second Varsity Four and the Novice Eight competitions.
Boston College, along with three other ACC schools in Duke, Miami and North Carolina, will next be in action this Saturday and Sunday, April 14-15, at the Knecht Cup, which is hosted by Villanova on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J.
The 2012 ACC Rowing Championship will be held on Saturday, April 21, on Lake Hartwell in Clemson, S.C.
