GREENSBORO, N.C. - Clemson's Second Varsity Eight Crew was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Rowing Crew of the Week Wednesday after defeating Cornell in a dual meet held last Saturday on Lake Hartwell in Clemson.

The Clemson Second Varsity Eight is composed of Abby Fernandez (coxswain, Tampa, Fla.), Hillary Cumbest (Nashville, Tenn.), Brittany Cummings (Virginia Beach, Va.), Nicole Rau (Wyoming, Mich.), Mairi Trimboli (Ludlow, Vt.), Caitlin O'Neill (Newburgh, N.Y.), Kelly Murphy (Marietta, Ga.), and Alison Colberg (Six Mile S.C.).

The Tigers defeated Cornell's Second Varsity Eight in a time of 6:51.8, as the Big Red recorded a time of 6:57.64.

The honor marked the second straight for Clemson in rowing, which garnered the first ACC Rowing Crew of the Week last week for its Varsity Eight+ performance against Boston College, Purdue, Penn, Ithaca and Indiana.

The Tigers will host the 2008 ACC Women's Rowing Championships which are scheduled to be held on Saturday, April 19 at Lake Hartwell in Clemson.
