UNC To Host U.S. Women's Lacrosse Team
October 21, 1998 CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina women's lacrosse team, NCAA semifinalists each of the past two years, will play host to the United States National Team this Saturday, October 24, 1998 at 3 p.m. at Navy Field in an exhibition match. The game is part of a doubleheader. At 1 p.m. the Tar Heels' fifth-ranked and three-time defending national champion field hockey team will play the sixth-ranked Boston College Eagles. Admission to both events is free of charge. Fans are urged to arrive early since construction at Navy Field has reduced seating capacity this year.
"This is a great opportunity for our women's lacrosse program," says
Jenny Slingluff Levy, the Tar Heels' head women's lacrosse coach who
founded the program at Carolina during it first varsity season of 1996.
"Our program has come a long way in a short period of time and I am
thrilled to have my players get the chance to play an exhibition game
against the finest players in the entire United States. It should be a
great event for our fans as well."
