HIGH WYCOMBE, England - Thanks in part to a game-high three goals by 2001 Maryland grad Quinn Carney, the U.S. National Women's Lacrosse team came from behind to defeat Australia 14-8 and claim its fourth consecutive World Cup on Saturday. Cherie Greer, the U.S. captain, had three ground balls, three draw controls two caused turnovers and one goal to earn player of the match honors.

The USA, who had never trailed in the championships, fell behind 2-0 five minutes into the match, but scored seven of the next nine goals. The Americans never looked back to win their record 12th consecutive game in World Cup competition.

NCAA all-time leading scorer and two-time Honda Award winner Jen Adams tied the match at four early with her lone score of the day. Former Terp All-American and assistant coach Sarah Forbes found the back of the net as well for the Australians.
