HIGH WYCOMBE, England - With a 3-0 record in pool play and an unblemished slate through the first and second championship rounds, the Terrapin-laden U.S. Women's lacrosse team will attempt to capture its fourth consecutive IFWLA World Cup on Saturday at 2 p.m GMT (8 a.m. EST). The final match of the week-long event pits the Americans, 25-2 victors over Canada in Thursday's semifinal contest, against Australia, who defeated England 8-1. The title game is a rematch of the 2000 championship, in which the Stars and Stripes prevailed, 3-2 in overtime.

For followers of the juggernaut Terrapin women's lacrosse program, the match on Saturday should be a special one. Eight U.S. National team players are graduates of the University of Maryland, from Jessica Wilk ('90) to Kelly Amonte-Hiller ('96) to Quinn Carney ('01), who has already merited Player of the Match honors in two World Cup contests over the past week. Meanwhile, the Australian bench features a pair of Terps representing their home country -- Maryland's two-time Honda Award winner and all-time NCAA leading scorer Jen Adams and rising-senior standout Courtney Hobbs.

The U.S. downed Australia 7-5 in pool play on Sunday, July 8, with Amonte-Hiller taking Player of the Match honors. Summaries of the championship round matches are below, and all of the game recaps, in full detail, are available on the official website of U.S. Women's Lacrosse.
