Jess scored her first goal in the World Cup in today's win over Germany after starting the game in the cage

High Wycombe, England - The USA's Jess Wilk, captain of the USA women's lacrosse team, started in the cage and shut out the German side in the first half, and then scored a goal in the second half to punctuate the Americans' win today in the quarterfinals of the IFWLA World Cup with an 18-0 victory over the Germans. With the win, the Stars and Stripes advances to the medal round to face the Canadian side in the first semifinal tomorrow (July 12) at 3:30 pm GMT (10:30 am EST). Leading scorer for the Americans was Michele Uhlfelder with three goals and four assists, while Kara Ariza led the way for the Americans with six ground balls and Quinn Carney had four draw controls.

Wilk's goal, her first for the USA in the World Cup, was remarkable because she started in the cage for the American side. She faced one shot and made no saves while allowing no goals in her 30 minutes.

Greer and Ariza also both scored for the USA side, with Ariza's goal coming off a free position after she drew a shooting space foul. Greer also led the team with three caused turnovers.

Rosen had two caused turnovers and three ground balls for the American cause.
