UNC Women's Lacrosse Adds Eight

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Jenny Slingluff Levy announced Thursday a 1999 recruiting class which includes six recruited freshmen who have signed national letters of intent and two more recruited walk-ons.

Following is the list of players who will be joining the North Carolina program this fall. North Carolina will be entering its fifth varsity season during the 1999-2000 school year. The Tar Heels have made the NCAA Tournament field each of the past three years.

Kate Boyle... Garden City High School, Garden City, N.Y.... Completed a post-graduate year at the Peddie School in New Jersey... Attacker... High School All-America selection.

Betsy Gaines... Roland Park Country School, Baltimore, Md.... Midfielder... Member of Under-19 U.S. Lacrosse Team--Two-Time High School First-Team All-America selection... First-Team All-Metro Selection in three sports (field hockey, basketball, lacrosse).

Margaret Garofalo... Paul Schreiber High School, Port Washington, N.Y.... Goalkeeper.

Meghan Kelly... Roland Park Country School, Baltimore, Md.... Defender... Alternate Member of Under-19 U.S. Lacrosse Team... High School All-America selection.

Andrea Fortino... Shawnee High School... Medford, N.J.... Defender... Two-Time High School First-Team All-America selection.
