Adams Named Honda Award Recipient for Second Straight Year
June 4, 2001 COLLEGE PARK, Md. - University of Maryland women's lacrosse player Jen Adams has been named the recipient of the 2000-01 Honda Sports Award for lacrosse. Adams has been named the lacrosse award's winner in each of its two years of existence and she is now automatically a nominee for the Honda-Broderick Cup which is presented to the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year on June 11 in Salt Lake City. Adams -- who was named an All-American by the IWLCA for the third straight year and is up for her third straight national player of the year award -- led the Terrapins in scoring with 88 goals and 60 assists en route to a perfect 23-0 season and the Terps' seventh straight national title. Her 148 points is the most ever in a single season in women's collegiate lacrosse and along the way, she broke the all-time points mark of 420 set by Delaware's Karen Emas (1981-84).
