COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland women's lacrosse team continued to receive fallout from its 2001 National Championship as five players received Division I All-American honors from 360lacrosse.com.

Attacker Allison Comito, defender Courtney Martinez and midfielders Jen Adams and Quinn Carney were all named first team in the balloting. Defender Tori Wellington was named to the second team.

In addition, Adams was named National Midfielder of the Year while Martinez was named National Defender of the Year. Adams led the nation in goals (88) and assists (60) en route to her third straight All-American season and possibly her third straight national player of the year honors. Martinez had a breakout senior season on defense leading the team in caused turnovers (40) and finishing second in ground balls (56) despite missing several games due to injury. She was also the NCAA Tournament Championship's most valuable player.

As for the other Terps honored, Comito scored the game-winning goal in yesterday's national title game and finished her career at Maryland as the school's third all-time leading goal scorer with 174, behind only Adams and Kelly Amonte. Carney was one of the top all-around players in the country and was the Terps second-leading scorer this year with 50 goals and 26 points. Wellington was an all-around force for the Terps this year who scored two goals in the national championship game and assisted Comito on the gamewinner.
