Three Terps Named IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-Americans
June 1, 2004 COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Kelly Coppedge, Delia Cox and Greta Sommers were named Harrow Sports All-Americans by IWLCA and US Lacrosse today. Coppedge was named to the first team, Cox earned second team honors and Sommers was a third team selection. The All-America honor is the third for Coppedge in her four seasons, while Cox and Sommers are earning their first such recognition. Coppedge, a Tewaaraton Finalist, posted another terrific season leading the team in goals (72), assists (26), points (98), ground balls (64) and caused turnovers (33). She is a three-time All-ACC selection and a three-time All-American. Cox, the 2003 Inside Lacrosse Rookie of the Year, also helped pace the Terrapin offense in 2004 scoring 47 goals and six assists on the season. The All-ACC pick had memorable six-goal games against No. 7 Syracuse and No. 1 Princeton. Cox was one of just three underclassmen to be named to either the first or second team. Sommers was the anchor of one of the nation's toughest defenses. Often marking the opposing team's best player, she helped slow down the likes of Amy Appelt (Virginia) at the ACC Tournament and Sarah Oliphant (Georgetown). She finished the season with two goals, 42 ground balls and 23 caused turnovers.
