Towson, Md. -- University of North Carolina sophomore Jenn Cook has been named a 2005 first-team All-America by Inside Lacrosse, the magazine announced on Friday afternoon. Fellow sophomore Kristen Hordy was named to the second-team.

Cook, a sophomore defender, is second in the Atlantic Coast Conference in ground balls and third in draw controls. She is Carolina's first first-team All-America since 2002, when Christine McPike, Porter Wilkinson, Kellie Thompson and Andy Fortino earned the honors.

Earlier this week, Cook was named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Assocation/US Lacrosse All-South team. She also was named All-ACC last month.

Hordy started all 20 UNC games in goal this season and is among the more athletic goalkeepers in the nation. She logged over 1,125 minutes in the cage in 2005, allowing 8.42 goals per game and posting a save percentage of 0.523. Hordy also ran down 52 ground balls this season, ranking third on the team behind Gina Allen and Cook.

The Inside Lacrosse player- and coach-of-the-year awards will be announced after this weekend's NCAA Final Four is complete.
