Cook, Gina Allen and Juras Earn All-District Honors
May 18, 2005 CHAPEL HILL -- University of North Carolina women's lacrosse players Jenn Cook, Gina Allen and Christina Juras were named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Assocation/US Lacrosse All-South team, it was announced on Wednesday evening. Cook was named to the first team, while Allen and Juras earned second-team honors. Cook, a sophomore defender, is second in the Atlantic Coast Conference in ground balls and third in draw controls. Allen, a senior defensive midfielder, leads the ACC in ground balls in 2005. Juras is second among Tar Heel players with 41 points (30 goals and 11 assists). Three regional committees selected thirty-two student-athletes in each of the regions (North, Mid-Atlantic, and South). All members of the All-Regional teams are eligible for All-American honors. The 2005 IWLCA/US Lacrosse All- American teams will be released on Sunday, May 22, in conjunction with the 2005 NCAA Championship game at the United States Naval Academy. The Tar Heels ended their 2005 season last weekend with a loss at Duke in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals. Carolina went 14-6 overall, 2-2 in the ACC.
