Maryland's Aust and Virginia's Kolarik Claim ACC Women's Lacrosse Weekly Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Maryland junior attacker Alex Aust and Virginia junior goalkeeper Kim Kolarik have earned Atlantic Coast Conference women’s lacrosse weekly awards. Aust was named the Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season while Kolarik earned her third Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Aust, of Sterling, Va., tallied 14 points on the week including a career-high 10 points on four goals and a school record six assists in Maryland’s 15-9 win over No. 18 Princeton. In the conference regular season finale against Virginia Tech, Aust accounted for one goal and three assists. Aust leads No.4 Maryland with 66 points, including twenty-eight over her previous four matches. The Offensive Player of the Week honor is Aust’s second of the season. The Terrapins hold the three seed in the upcoming ACC Women’s Lacrosse Championship and will face sixth-seeded Virginia Tech on Friday at 2 p.m.
Kolarik, of Towson, Md., came up with eight saves in leading Virginia to an 11-7 victory over No. 19 Johns Hopkins last Wednesday evening. Kolarik’s steady play down the stretch helped preserve the win for the Cavaliers who improved to 10-5 on the season. The Defensive Player of the Week honor is Kolarik’s third of the season. Virginia holds the fourth seed in the upcoming ACC Women’s Lacrosse Championship and will face fifth-seeded Boston College on Friday at noon.
The three-day ACC Women’s Lacrosse Championship will be held April 20, 21 and 23 at Koskinen Stadium in Durham, N.C.
