Terps Remain Atop Women's Lacrosse Poll

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The IWLCA Poll Committee has released the fifth week's rankings for the NCAA Division I lacrosse field for 1999. Rankings will be released weekly on Monday afternoons.

The Maryland Terrapins remained on top of the IWLCA poll for the sixth consecutive week with a pair of victories, including a 12-11 overtime victory over then-#5 James Madison. Cornell moves into the top-20 for the first time this season following a 7-6 victory over then-#14 Vanderbilt.

Games this week involving top-20 action includes action in the Mid-Atlantic as #15 Delaware hosts #5 Princeton on Tuesday. Virginia, who holds at #4, travels to new #3 James Madison on Wednesday and hosts #2 Duke on Saturday and #17 Vanderbilt on Sunday.

The CAA sees a pair of top-20 games on Wednesday as #9 Loyola faces #20 George Mason and #12 William & Mary travels down the road to #14 Old Dominion. On Saturday, #10 Dartmouth welcomes #18 Cornell to the poll, and Loyola hosts #6 Penn State. Old Dominion hosts against #20 George Mason, and two pairs of top-10 teams battle on Saturday as Loyola hosts Penn State and North Carolina hosts Georgetown.

The CAA continues as George Mason and William & Mary tangle on Sunday and Old Dominion hosts its third consecutive top-20 with #13 Boston University coming to town.
