ACC is First Conference Ever to Sweep Top Four Spots in Women's Lacrosse Poll

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The ACC made history this week by becoming the first conference ever to sweep the top four spots in the NCAA Division I women's lacrosse rankings, as released by the IWLCA Poll Committee.

The ACC quartet is led by unanimous No. 1 Maryland, which remained on top of the IWLCA poll for the fifth consecutive week after defeating a pair of top-20 teams. For the first time this season, a team holds on to second place in the poll as Duke won both of its games. The Terps and Blue Devils are followed by No. 3 North Carolina and and No. 4 Virginia.

Games this week involving top-20 action includes as ACC showdown as #2 Duke hosts #3 North Carolina.

On Friday #5 James Madison continues through the tough CAA with a game against #16 George Mason. On Saturday the Ivy League gets into top-20 competition as #10 Dartmouth and #20 Brown tangle. The CAA continues its top-20 action as #9 Loyola faces #11 Old Dominion.

James Madison continues its own streak of top-20 games with a tilt against #1 Maryland, and #7 Georgetown and #12 Rutgers square off on Saturday as well. #15 William & Mary welcomes a pair of ACC foes, taking on #2 Duke on Saturday and #3 North Carolina on Sunday.
