Tar Heels Dominate Old Dominion, 19-7

NORFOLK, Va. -- North Carolina (11-4) went on a 9-0 run to straddle halftime, holding Old Dominion scoreless for over 30 minutes, and cruised to a 19-7 women's lacrosse win at ODU on Wednesday afternoon. UNC held ODU scoreless for the last 14:12 of the first half and the first 16:18 of the second while scoring nine unanswered goals during that stretch.

Three Tar Heels had five or more points as Taylor poured in a seven-point effort with three goals and four assists. Julia Ryan (2 goals, 3 assists) and Donohoe (4 goals, 1 assist) also scored five points or more for UNC, which also got three goals and an assist from Meghan Clarke, two goals and an assist from Erica LaGrow and a goal and two assists from Megan Bosica.

The Tar Heels led by two goals at 6-4 after the first 15:48, but UNC would close the game on a 13-3 run, getting scores from 10 different players in the game.

Boston College Lacrosse Pulls Out Final-Seconds Win

Westwood, Mass. - Junior captain Jenna McCabe scored her fourth goal of the day off a pass from classmate Lauren Fitzpatrick with eight seconds remaining in the game to give the Eagles a 12-11 win over Vermont on Wednesday evening. McCabe and Fitzpatrick both extended their scoring streaks to 13 games as the duo has notched a point in every match this season. The Eagles improved to 5-8 on the season, while the Catamounts fell to 7-7.

Vermont took an early 2-0 lead, scoring twice in one minute before the 22-minute mark. The Eagles evened the score on two free position shots, one by McCabe and one by freshman Jill Rekart.

It took 10 minutes for either team to break the tie, but the Catamounts were able to take back the lead when Alison Haigh netted a goal off a pass from Kristen Millar. Millar finished the day at the top of the box score with five points on two goals and three assists.

BC outshot UVM, 33-25, and collected 17 ground balls to the Catamounts' 13. Junior Maura Mahoney led BC with four ground balls. UVM edged out BC in draw controls, 14-11. Junior Katie Monaghan made seven saves while Meaghan Hanley recorded 10.

Cavaliers Complete Undefeated Regular Season at Home

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The No. 4 Virginia women's lacrosse teams farewell to its five seniors was played in dominating fashion Wednesday evening in Klöckner Stadium. The Cavaliers opened the game on a 14-0 run, holding No. 12 George Mason scoreless until the 17:52 mark of the second half, en route to a 16-3 victory. With the win, the Cavaliers complete their sixth undefeated regular season at home, the first since 1996.

Junior Blair Weymouth led the attack with four goals, while classmate Ashley McCulloch had one score and four helpers for a game-high five points. Fifth-year Kaitlin Swagart tallied three goals and sophomores Kaitlin Duff and Caity Whiteley added two goals each.

Junior Jenny Hauser and sophomore Brittany Kalkstein each had a goal and two assists, while freshman Molly Millard tacked on one goal. Classmate Perrie White tallied her first collegiate goal, while sophomore Yeardley Love contributed her first career assist. Senior Megan O'Malley rounded out the scoring with an assist.

In goal, senior Kendall McBrearty stopped six shots and allowed only two goals. In front of her, senior Alice Hughey caused four turnovers before they could turn into shots and Duff scooped up four ground balls.

No. 3 Maryland Doubles Up No. 9 Georgetown, 14-7

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 3 Maryland women's lacrosse team went down 2-0 early to No. 9 Georgetown, but the Terrapins responded with nine unanswered goals in the first half and never looked back in a 14-7 win on April 16 at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex. Senior Lauren Cohen scored four goals and added an assist while classmate Kelly Kasper had a goal and four assists. Senior Dana Dobbie chipped in with three goals and nine draw controls.

Kasper's four assists moves her into sixth place on the all-time Maryland list with 85. Cohen has now scored two or more goals in eight-straight games.

Senior Casey Magor and freshman Sarah Mollison both scored a pair of goals for the Terps in the win.

It was Georgetown who jumped on Maryland early with two goals in the first five minutes. Jordy Kirr went unassisted for the first tally and then dished out a helper to Patty Piotrowicz for the Hoyas' second goal at the 25:23 mark.

The Terps responded enormously though with nine-straight goals to end the half. Kasper scored the Terps' first goal with help from Cohen 21 seconds later to cut the deficit in half and then Dobbie went unassisted two minutes later to tie the game.
