No. 2 Maryland Women's Lacrosse Edges No. 14 Ohio State, 17-16
With the help of six goals from freshman Karri Ellen Johnson, the No. 2 women's lacrosse team escaped No. 14 Ohio State, 17-16, to conclude the 2009 ACC/ALC Challenge on Sunday.

The host-Buckeyes scored three unanswered goals in front of a season-high crowd to open up the period before Maryland answered with three of its own as Sarah Mollison, Caitlyn McFadden and Johnson evened the score. Ohio State's Rachel Hawes gave the lead back to the Buckeyes at 14:18 before the Terps sparked another lead change with goals from Johnson and Laura Merrifield within ten seconds of each other with 13 minutes left in the half. OSU countered with two scores to push the score to 6-5 before Amanda Spinnenweber found Johnson to tie the game and Mollison shoved the Terps to the front with an unassisted score at 6:55.

OSU scored twice more to once again shuffle the lead before Merrifield, who tallied eight goals in Maryland's win against Penn State on Friday, tied the game at the 4:20 mark. A Buckeye free position goal and a Brandi Jones score tied the game at 9-9. 

Virginia Defeats Harvard, 13-9
The No. 9 Virginia women's lacrosse team rallied for a 9-0 run midway through Sunday afternoon's contest with Harvard to pull away from the Crimson, en route to a 13-9 win in Harvard Stadium.

Senior Jenny Hauser got the scoring started at 24:51, but after five scoreless minutes, the Crimson rallied for three unanswered goals to take a 3-1 lead by 15:13.

Senior Ashley McCulloch knotted the score at three all, with two-straight goals, before Hauser and junior Kaitlin Duff combined for the final four goals of the half to give Virginia a 7-3 advantage at halftime.

Tar Heels Win Eighth In A Row, 11-7 Over Penn State
North Carolina's women's lacrosse team got three goals and an assist from junior Kristen Taylor and two goals and an assist from Corey Donohoe on its way to its eighth consecutive victory, an 11-7 win over Penn State on Sunday morning in the second day of the Atlantic Coast Conference/American Lacrosse Conference Challenge in Columbus, Ohio.

The win was the eighth in a row for the Tar Heels, who have not lost in the last month since dropping back-to-back decisions to Northwestern at home and to Penn on the road on March 2 and March 6, respectively.

Since those losses, Carolina (11-2) has won at Denver, at home against Virginia, Old Dominion and Georgetown, at Virginia Tech, at home against Boston College, at Ohio State and Sunday against Penn State in Columbus.
