No. 2 Maryland Women's Lacrosse Wins Offensive Battle Against No. 14 Stanford, 20-12
Junior Brittany Jones had a breakout game Sunday, tallying a career-high six goals as the No. 2 Maryland women's lacrosse team won an offensive battle against No. 14 Stanford, 20-12, at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.

Maryland (11-0, 3-0 ACC) played inspired out of the gate, notching a 4-0 run with goals coming from Karri Ellen Johnson, Amanda Spinnenweber, Brandi Jones and Laura Merrifield. In total, Maryland presented an incredibly balanced attack as eight different Terps scored to begin the game and spark Maryland to an 8-2 lead with ten minutes remaining in the first half.

The Terrapin offense continued to take center stage throughout the first half. After Stanford tallied two scores around the seven-minute mark, Maryland answered with three goals, including two from Bri. Jones to move the score to 11-4. Stanford midfielder Julie Christy netted two of her team-high five goals to cut Maryland's lead to five with two minutes remaining in the period before Sarah Mollison's free position goal provided the Terps with their 12th goal of the half. Two quick eight-meter scores from Stanford within the closing minute of the first stanza left the score at 12-8.
