Bullard Scores With 11 Seconds Left As Duke Edges UVA
Sophomore Sarah Bullard found the back of the net with just 11.3 seconds remaining in the game to lift the No. 5 Duke women’s lacrosse team to a 13-12 victory over tenth-ranked Virginia Saturday afternoon at a rainy Klockner Stadium on UVA’s campus.

The Blue Devils improved to 9-2 and 2-1 in the ACC with the victory, as today’s win snapped Duke’s three-game losing streak against the Cavaliers. It was also the Blue Devils’ third-straight victory.

With the score tied at 12 and Virginia maintaining possession in the final minute, the Cavaliers were working the ball around to look for the last shot, but a bad pass toward the sideline resulted in a UVA turnover. Danielle Kachulis carried the ball up field for Duke, but would slip on the wet grass and manage to flick the ball to Caroline Cryer. Cryer sent it over to Carolyn Davis on the far right, who passed it to Megan Del Monte behind the cage. Del Monte then found a streaking Bullard at the top of the arc, who fired it past the keeper to put Duke up 13-12 with just 11 seconds left. UVA won the ensuing draw but could not manage a final shot as the Blue Devils held on for the road win.

Tar Heels Top B.C. To Stay Undefeated In ACC

With the victory, UNC improved to 9-2 overall and 3-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, while the Eagles fell to 7-4 (0-3 ACC).

In addition to the team-high five goals by Parks, the Tar Heels got three from junior Kristen Taylor and one each from juniors Jenn Russell and Kristen Carr and freshmen Becky Lynch and Laura Zimmerman. Junior Megan Bosica had three assists to boost her season total to a team-best 16, while Lynch and Russell added one each.

Junior Logan Ripley started in goal for UNC, making six saves and allowing six goals in 56:50. Freshman Britt Giacco played the final 3:10, with two saves and two goals allowed. Goalkeeper Katie Monaghan played all 60 minutes for B.C., making eight saves.

Hokies overcome Old Dominion in overtime
The Virginia Tech women’s lacrosse team honored its two seniors, Rachel Culp and Kari Morrison, before the match, but a freshman proved to be the difference maker as Jessica Nonn netted the sudden victory game-winner for the Hokies. With the goal, Tech defeated the visiting Old Dominion Lady Monarchs 11-10 in a non-conference match on Saturday afternoon at Thompson Field.

The Hokies ended a three-game skid with the win and improved to 5-7 on the year (1-3 ACC). Old Dominion suffered only its second setback of the season and fell to 5-2 overall (0-0 CAA).

The match began much like it ended, with a goal from Nonn (Fr.,Catonsville, Md.). The rookie scored her first goal of the day four minutes into the game and notched her second and third scores, both assisted by Dylan Garner (Cornelius, N.C.), before 10 minutes had elapsed in the first half.

No. 2 Maryland Women's Lacrosse Rolls Past No. 18 James Madison, 17-7

JMU responded with two goals before Maryland went on a devastating 7-0 run, highlighted by four goals from Johnson, to close out the first half with a commanding 11-3 Maryland lead.
