Drexel Drops Tech on Last Minute Goal
PHILADELPHIA, PA. - The Virginia Tech women's lacrosse team took an early lead, but could not hold off a late Drexel charge as the Hokies fell 10-9 to the Dragons on Saturday afternoon at Vidas Field.

Tech is now 0-1 with the loss while Drexel opens the season 1-0.

The Hokies took a quick lead 45 seconds into the match when Rachel Culp (Sr., Kent, Ohio) gave Tech the early 1-0 lead. Allie Emala (So., Baltimore, Md.) added to the Tech lead with her first goal of the season and tallied another score on a free position shot, putting the Hokies up 3-0 with 19:31 left in the first half. Jessica Nonn (Fr., Catonsville, Md.) scored the first goal of her career shortly after and Tech looked to have control of the match.

Despite the 4-0 Tech advantage, Drexel kept fighting and the Dragons got on the board with a goal by Charlotte Wood at the 16:31 mark.

A flurry of Tech yellow yards would allow Drexel to claw its way back. The Dragons scored three quick man-up goals to tie the game at foul all with 5:52 left in the opening half, but the Hokies responded with a 2-0 run of their own with goals from Dylan Garner (So.,Cornelius, N.C.) and Tori O'Shea (Fr., Richmond, Va.).
